Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Search terms such as a name or case number are sent to the outside provider operating that search feature, which processes the query and returns results. We do not keep a log of those terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we retain the message so we can respond. We keep it within our organization and disclose it outside the organization only when legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page is requested, our servers may record technical information about the visit, including:
- Your device's internet protocol (IP) address
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages opened and approximate time spent on each
- The referring website, when available
- Date and time associated with page views
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, small files stored by your browser, to understand traffic patterns such as which pages are visited and where sessions end. Analytics providers help summarize that information. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though some site functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating and improving the site's speed and availability
- Forwarding search inputs to the provider that supplies results
- Evaluating which pages serve visitors well
- Identifying and correcting technical problems
- Presenting advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Texas Court Docket does not host, assemble, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or individual case histories. The site provides general directions to Texas court resources, statewide case search, and local court and clerk offices across 254 counties. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not turned into consumer reports or dossiers on other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside providers operate the search boxes on this site. Queries entered there are handled under each provider's privacy policy and data practices. We do not set their retention or disclosure rules, so read the relevant policy before sending a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links on our pages may lead to clerks, courts, statewide systems, legal-aid organizations, or commercial search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review them before submitting personal information.
Advertising companies may also use their own systems to track activity across websites for ad selection. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be handled by:
- Search providers receiving queries submitted through their tools
- Analytics services measuring site visits and performance
- Advertising networks that serve site ads
- Government or law-enforcement authorities when required by valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
We use commonly accepted safeguards for the information we collect. No internet-connected service can promise perfect security, so we cannot guarantee that a security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us so we can remove it.
Your Data Rights
Where its scope and exemptions apply, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (Business & Commerce Code Chapter 541) may provide additional rights to covered individuals. The law does not apply to every person, entity, or category of information. Depending on the circumstances, rights may include:
- Request access to personal data held about you
- Ask for inaccurate personal data to be corrected
- Request deletion of personal data
- Opt out of certain processing, where the statute provides that right
These privacy rights concern personal data held by a covered entity; they are separate from requests for court records. Case-file requests go to the court or clerk that maintains the case. Certain administrative records held by covered judicial custodians are addressed under Texas Supreme Court Rule 12, which does not apply to elected officials other than judges, including district clerks. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, generally does not govern records of courts or judicial-branch agencies.
